MEERUT: A senior Uttar Pradesh official criticized Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha, who was unable to answer a question about ‘Ramayana’ during a popular television show last week.
Sunil Bharala, who occupies a position of ministerial rank as Chairman of the Labor Welfare Council, called Sonakshi Sinha a ‘Dhan Pashu’ (money animal) and said that these people do not have time to learn and only care about making money.
“In modern times, these people are only looking for money. All they care about is making money and spending that money on themselves. They have no knowledge of history and the gods. They have no time to learn. Nothing can be sadder than this”. he said.
The Minister was referring to Ms. Sinha’s failure to answer a question related to Ramayana in an episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati‘ on September 20.
In the program to support a contestant from Rajasthan, Sonakshi was asked: “According to Ramayana, Hanuman brought the ‘Sanjeevani Booti’ (grass) for whom?”
Apparently he didn’t know the answer to the four options given: Sugriva, Lakshmana, Sita and Rama, and finally used a lifeguard to answer the question.
Expressing his surprise at Sonakshi’s lack of knowledge about the Indian epic, the show’s host actor, Amitabh Bachchan, later pointed out how strange he was while living in a house called ‘Ramayana’, his father’s name is Shatrughan Sinha, whose other three brothers are called Ram, Lakshman and Bharat, and their own brothers are called Luv and Kush.
The actor was also trolled on social networks for not knowing the history of Ramayana. However, he responded to Internet users saying that he does not remember many other things and if the trollers have no job, they can also make memes about them.
